Arc en ciel d’Afrique
An umbrella organization for members of the LGBT community coming from all countries in Africa and the Caribbean.
Chouettes Coquettes
Translated loosely as “the charming cute girls” this is a bilingual social group for lesbians and bisexual women in their 20s and 30s. They hold twice-monthly happy hours at various spots in the village, followed by dinner at a local restaurant and tons of other activities such as outings to the movies, clubs and shows, picnics, playing sports and other outdoor events. This is considered the hipper, younger social group for lesbians.
Cultur-Elles
Bilingual lesbian social group for “stylish, professional women, 35 - 50, singles & couples, who are culturally curious, have refined sensibilities, and want to enjoy themselves in a fun, groovy, and sophisticated atmosphere.” They organize regular outings to shows, museums, cocktail lounges etc. Check website for event details and registration, no membership required.
Débiles du plein air
Loosely translated into English, "Débiles du plein air" means "for those who are crazy about the outdoors". This new lesbian outdoors group is for women in the 20-40 year-old range who want to do anything from snowshoeing to water skiing and everything in between. Their events are open to all and info for upcoming sorties can be found on their (French-only) website.
FemLib
Short for “femme libre” or “free woman” this is Montreal’s longest running lesbian social group. Founded back in 1991, they organize year-round events from singles breakfasts to mountain hikes to day cruises. This is primarily a French lesbian organization, but all are welcome. More of a middle-age clientele. Check their website for their full year calendar of events. If you’re interested in joining them for an event, just call to reserve a place as no membership is required.
Helem Montreal
For the Lebanese LGBT community. Helem holds regular movie nights and other social activities throughout the year.
Les Panthères Roses
Calling all radical, anti-establishment homos, this is the queer mutiny on Montreal. They’ve got a great bilingual website with interesting homocore anarchist links and these pink panthers are always ready to throw up their arms in protest when needed.
Lesbian Mothers Association of Quebec
A bilingual group for lesbian mothers and moms-to-be. These ladies are extremely dedicated and organized, and they do everything from providing community to exchanging information, sharing resources and having fun together with the kids. LMAQ organizes monthly events for families and get-togethers just for moms.
Montreal Butch-Femme
This is an online group that organizes regular butch/femme events in Montreal. You don’t have to join their list to be able to read their messages announcing events at the bottom of the page. All are welcome to their events, usually taking place at local clubs.
No More Potlucks
Beyond having just a great name, this local bilingual lesbian social group talks women’s politics, literature and culture… and they also hold events and list other events of interest. Smart and interesting resource, well presented.
Outspoken Montreal
A newly-formed lesbian networking association open to all bent girls, but with a strong English presence. They hold monthly meet-ups for lesbians who are 30+.
Tip of the Tongue
This is the main English-speaking lesbian and bisexual women’s association in Montreal. Tip of the Tongue organize all kinds of social events throughout the year. They don’t have a website up yet, but you can be put on their monthly email list that lets ladies know about upcoming events.
Zaafaran
"A group created for Middle-Eastern and Maghreb LBTTT Women. Its' purpose is to allow them to organize social, cultural and political activities in a safe and confidential space." This is a brand-new group and right now it's basically a website, but hopefully meet-ups will come soon. This group is for both French-speaking and English-speaking women.
